Basically all the problems with these transmissions are valve body related and the poor machining and casting quality of the components resulting in leakage. The rest of the transmission is generally pretty stout, with no real concerns, to the best of my knowledge. Ram Year. 2016 Ram 2500. Engine. Hemi 6.4 4.10. I was towing ~7000 lbs and going down a 2 mile grade @50mph. Truck was in tow/haul mode and had 5th gear selected. If you were stuck in 4th gear full time (even from a stop, which makes it feel really sluggish), then it is likely an electrical problem (wiring or a bad sensor). When stuck in 4th the tranny temp will reach upwards of 240 degrees. The only way to correct it is to pull over and turn truck off for 5-10 minutes and then restart it. Seems to be a computer control issue or something to that effect because all the parts inside the transmission are new. The transmission did not start out in 1st felt and remained stuck in what felt like 3rd or 4th. I drove home slowly about 2 miles and turned it off.
